San Bernardino takes pride in standing out as “a County dedicated to prosperity and well-being.” However, no county can take personal responsibility for the well-being of every resident; the tougher responsibilities are in your own hands. If you or a loved one are in need of drug or alcohol detox in San Bernardino, finding the right center can be an overwhelming job. With dozens of convenient options available, what exactly do you look for? There are three key detox-program features to focus on in your search, whatever your specific treatment needs. Finding a San Bernardino treatment center that addresses all the key areas may seem daunting, but it’s worth it to ensure you receive the highest quality treatment and set yourself up for successful long-term sobriety.

Detox Centers in San Bernardino

Although there are plenty of convenient addiction rehab and detox centers to choose from, it’s not always a good idea to remain too close to home. Proximity to your familiar environment may affect your commitment to completing treatment by keeping you aware that you could easily leave the center—perhaps mid-detox—and go back to familiar territory. In other words, choosing too convenient a detox option could hurt your chances of successful recovery. Inland Detox, located just an hour’s drive from San Bernardino, may be your best choice in that we allow you to stay comfortably in Southern California while giving you enough space from addiction-related temptations to focus effectively on recovery. If you’re looking for detox centers in San Bernardino, it’s certainly worth considering Inland Detox as one option.

How Does the Detox Process Work?
When you arrive in southern California, you’ll be evaluated by a doctor to determine whether your condition is appropriate for clinical detox. While at Inland Detox, you will go through a process called stabilization; this entails going through the withdrawal process in a comfortable, quiet setting. Once your condition is stable, you will be referred for further treatment, generally in an inpatient residential setting.

The Three Core Tenets of Detox

Whichever detox center you eventually choose, inside San Bernardino or out, should meet three primary considerations for effective treatment. First and most important, look for a facility that specializes in stabilization and that offers qualified supervision by licensed medical personnel. Doctors, vocational nurses, certified nursing assistants and other medically qualified detox specialists are able to treat any complications that may arise during detox, ensuring you the safest possible journey to physical sobriety.

The Best San Bernardino County Detox

Primary consideration #2: look for a detox facility that includes licensed therapy as part of treatment. Physical detox is only the first stage of addiction recovery, the first step in a treatment program of inpatient and/or intensive outpatient rehab that usually lasts a minimum of three months. Unless your treatment begins addressing the underlying causes of your addiction as soon as possible, and then progresses to more intensive therapeutic care, you will be ill-prepared to handle temptations to relapse into addiction. Look for rehab centers convenient to San Bernardino that include individual and group therapy in their treatment, managed by licensed Ph.D’s, Psy.D’s, and marriage and family therapists, as well as registered alcohol and drug technicians. A facility that utilizes highly qualified therapists provides high-quality therapy immediately post-detox, and prepares you for further counseling and care on your way to long-term sobriety.

Primary consideration #3: identify drug rehabs in San Bernardino that provide discharge and aftercare planning, the first step to the “further levels of care” mentioned above. The physical part of detoxification typically lasts only five to seven days, which, even if the patient were coherent enough for counseling the entire time, is not nearly enough to address addiction at the necessary therapeutic levels. Dealing with the underlying causes of your addiction will be a lifelong journey, but the first leg is a formal therapy process that can last for many months. Therefore, you want a detox center that understands the importance of long-term therapy, and that provides aftercare referrals to residential-treatment and/or intensive outpatient programs. These will help you create a long-term treatment plan based on the information and issues uncovered in your initial counseling sessions, identifying concerns you will need to process to ensure that when you transition back into your normal life, you will be fully equipped with the tools you need to remain sober.

Client stabilization is the second goal of effective detox treatment. At this stage of care, our Clinical Director addresses the client’s immediate needs while taking in to account the unique history of each client. Inland Detox staff will coordinate efforts with your primary physician or a local physician if you need to continue a course of prescribed medication or begin a new course of medication in the process of detox.

Our clinical staff members design a custom treatment plan for each client of Inland Detox. Our treatment plans take in to consideration the substance abuse history of each client, their immediate medical, psychological, nutritional and social needs as well. Our understanding of the detox process is that it is the first step towards recovery. As such, our clinical and supportive staff members work in concert to suggest effective care upon discharge. This may include finding appropriate long-term residential care provider or making a transition to outpatient care.
