Our Methamphetamine Detox Program
Detoxing from methamphetamine can be quite difficult, as meth detox presents with a challenging set of symptoms that are somewhat unique amongst drugs of abuse. Methamphetamine can cause physical and chemical changes in the brain that manifest as severe psychological symptoms during withdrawals, which means that proper mental health support is of paramount importance during detox. It’s quite common for those addicted to methamphetamine to experience a wide range of physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms such as:
- Body aches and pains
- Paranoid thoughts and delusions
- Visual and auditory hallucinations
- Increased cravings for the drug
- Sleeplessness and sleeping problems
- Severe mood swings/changes in personality
- Difficulty with concentration
- Extreme fatigue: you may desire to sleep but find it unable to achieve
HOW DOES THE DETOX PROCESS WORK?
When you arrive in southern California, you’ll be evaluated by a doctor to determine whether your condition is appropriate for clinical detox. While at Inland Detox, you will go through a process called stabilization; this entails going through the withdrawal process in a comfortable, quiet setting. Once your condition is stable, you will be referred for further treatment, generally in an inpatient residential setting.
In many cases, those who use methamphetamine also use other drugs and/or alcohol and our client screening process takes this in to account when our treatment team collaborates on a treatment plan. Combining alcohol with methamphetamine can lead to more severe and dangerous withdrawal symptoms such as seizures, delirium tremens and severe depression. It is especially important for our clinical staff to evaluate our methamphetamine detox clients thoroughly because many of them present with co-occurring psychological disorders commonly found in those who use methamphetamine such as severe depression, agitation and hallucinations. At Inland Detox, we focus equally on our client’s social, physical and psychological needs as it pertains to methamphetamine detox. We’ve come to find that detox programs that focus equally on treating each domain of methamphetamine addiction during the detox phase of treatment leads to the best possible treatment outcomes.
What To Expect In Inland Detox’s Methamphetamine Detox Program
Our clients should always expect to be treated with dignity and respect in a caring, 24 hour, round-the-clock, clinically supervised upscale environment. Our residential meth detox facility is located on multiple acres in a secluded, peaceful environment, perfect for people to recover in peace and seclusion.
Before you’re admitted, you’ll go through a brief intake process where Admissions staff will learn more about you so our clinical staff members can create the best possible treatment plan for your needs. While the focus of detox is stabilization and mitigation of physical withdrawal symptoms, our meth detox also includes both group and individual counseling to begin identifying each individual’s triggers and causes of addiction. This helps to kick-start the recovery process and provides a lead-in to further levels of treatment where counseling is more intensive.
Our methamphetamine detox clients stay with us typically for less than a week. During this time, our goal is to help you coordinate your next steps in the treatment process. Many of our clients go on to long-term residential drug and alcohol rehab programs or transition to intensive outpatient programs. We will not only assist you in your transition to aftercare, but we will arrange for transportation from our facility to any Southern California treatment facility or major airport. Our ultimate goal is to not only provide the highest possible care for our clients, but to ensure they are safely transported to their next level of care.
