Our services are the best first step towards lasting sobriety – with heavy emphasis on accurate assessment, stabilization, treatment planning, and client comfort, those who participate in residential treatment have begun the process of changing their lives forever.

Addiction is a complex and chronic brain disorder, requiring ongoing care and the establishment of new, healthy habits. It’s necessary to unlearn destructive stress responses and truly get to the bottom of one’s history of substance use. This is when it becomes beneficial to seek residential addiction treatment.

What Is Residential Treatment?

Residential treatment is also referred to as inpatient rehabilitation or residential rehab. As is implied by the name, clients will live on site in a sober, home-like environment. While outpatient treatment options are also available, inpatient or residential programs are preferred for those who are new to recovery.
These programs offer full immersion in one’s pursuit of recovery. Residential rehabs remove people from their triggers and enable them to work through the cravings and urges that come with early sobriety. Through group sessions and one-on-one work with licensed clinicians, clients experience a supportive environment that is geared towards the creation of healthy coping mechanisms and lasting recovery. Additionally, the facility is able to offer round-the-clock medical support for those with health concerns.

HOW DOES THE DETOX PROCESS WORK?

When you arrive in southern California, you’ll be evaluated by a doctor to determine whether your condition is appropriate for clinical detox. While at Inland Detox, you will go through a process called stabilization; this entails going through the withdrawal process in a comfortable, quiet setting. Once your condition is stable, you will be referred for further treatment, generally in an inpatient residential setting.

What Is the Difference Between Inpatient and Residential Treatment?

Residential treatment and inpatient treatment may seem alike, but they are often divided into different types of care. The two main components that set them apart include intensity and duration.

Residential and inpatient treatment both provide more intensive care than outpatient treatment, but inpatient services are most restrictive and targeted at those with severe symptoms.

Some other factors and major differences include the setting, medical management and the length of the program.  Unlike inpatient treatment typically being in a hospital or treatment facility, residential treatment programs are not conducted in that setting. Residential treatment is offered in a group setting or home-like setting.

During inpatient rehab medical staff is there to treat individuals 24/7. On the other hand, residential treatment usually involves staff caring for the individuals without 24/7 support.

The length of the program is also different for inpatient and residential treatment. Inpatient treatment is not typically for long-term care rather for short-term care.
The duration of residential treatment could last longer than a year, depending on the type. Treatment facility staff will also be able to determine the length of stay based on a person’s progress while in treatment.

At Inland Detox, our staff is there to care for you every step of the way.  Unlike outpatient treatments, residential treatments last a month or more and provide more freedom than outpatient treatments.

Benefits Of Residential Treatment

When someone is dealing with a substance use disorder, they need high-quality, proven care that fits their needs. By living in an environment fully focused on recovery, one’s wellbeing and sobriety becomes the primary goal. There are no distractions or triggers from work, school, or other obligations. Fellowship with other clients and reinforcement from staff can provide the necessary motivation to continue when one would otherwise like to resume using their substance of choice.
Typical amenities and programs of residential treatment programs include:
  • Individual counseling
  • Group therapy
  • Family counseling
  • Addiction education
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Participation in local AA and NA meetings
  • Follow-up and aftercare services
  • Coping skills training
  • Nutrition
  • Life skills education
  • Medical support
  • Yoga, mindfulness, and meditation training

At Inland Detox’s alcohol and drug rehab center, we understand that treatment programs need to treat the individual and not the disorder. That is why Inland Detox is proud to offer our dual diagnosis treatment program. Also known as a co-occurring disorder, dual diagnosis is when a substance abuse disorder and mental illness overlap.

Through our dual diagnosis program, Inland Detox can provide mental health treatment for individuals suffering from a mental health issue in tandem with their primary drug abuse problem.
